microblading questions micropigmentation
  • What type of service is this?
This service is a form of micropigmentation, sometimes referred to as semi-permanent makeup. It is a non-invasive eyebrow enhancement. You may have heard different names for eyebrow micropigmentation like microblading, nano brows, powder brows, and ombre brows.
  • How is this different than other brow services?
Eyebrow services like, laminations, brow dye, brow tint, waxing and threading target the eyebrow hair itself or the surface of your skin. This service doesn't alter eyebrow hair. Pigment is deposited into the skin to give the illusion of having eyebrow hair or a soft defined brow.
  • Is this like a traditional tattoo?
Traditional tattoos are created with ink. Our bodies aren't able to break down the ink in our skin, making traditional tattoos long-lasting. This service uses pigment. Over time our bodies are able to break down the pigment in our skin, causing the brows to fade.
  • How do I prepare for my appointment?
Getting the best results starts before your appointment. Help your brows by following these pre-care instructions. They are extremely important to the results of your brow micropigmentation. 60 days before service No laser appointments or microdermabrasion 30 days before service No: Chemical peels Coloring of brow hair. • Do you offer consultations?
Yes! You can book a virtual consultation. I get it, this service can be intimidating if you don't know what to expect. During your virtual consultation, we'll talk about your brow goals, I'll take a peek at your brows, and answer any questions you might have.
  • How do I book?
All appointment bookings are done online through Glossgenius. A deposit is required to reserve your appointment and you will be requested to complete an intake form. This form must be completed before I can accept your appointment. After you have booked, you will receive an email/text confirming your appointment details.
  • Is this a two-step process?
Yes! The eyebrow micropigmentation process requires two appointments to be completed. The second appointment is booked 12-16 weeks after your first appointment. Each appointment is priced individually.
  • How do you choose the color for my brows?
When choosing the color for your service, I look at your natural eyebrow hair color and complexion. I will be matching the pigment to your natural brow hairs. The pigment is a customized blend designed specifically for you. It is very important to arrive at your appointment with your natural brow hair color.
  • How do I prepare for my appointment?
Getting the best results starts before your appointment. Follow the link to learn more about how to prepare for your appointment.
  • How long are the appointments?
These are longer services. This is your time to relax and enjoy your self-care. Appointments are around 2.5-3 hours. For your comfort, please eat before your appointment and dress comfortably.
  • Do you refresh brows done by a different artist?
Yes, I do. I require all brows to be faded significantly (~80%) before refreshing them. If the brows are not significantly faded, I recommend waiting or having removal services. Please send a photo of your brows to pmuartistvanessa@gmail.com before booking your appointment. When taking the photo, please use direct bright lighting, remove any products from brows, and remove glasses.
  • What is the tipping etiquette?
Tipping on the service is never expected, but always appreciated.
  • Is it painful?
Everybody's pain tolerance is different. Most clients find this service relaxing and have even fallen asleep. For your comfort, I use two topical numbing agents during your appointment.
  • Will I need to use brow makeup still?
That's up to you! Healed brows softly blend with your natural brow hair and are a great guideline to use when applying makeup for a more glamorous look. Your brows are designed to fade over time and you may want to use makeup to touch up faded areas.
  • How long will my brows last?
Your brows are designed to fade over time, and that time looks different on everyone. Factors that can affect the longevity of your brow include oily skin, smoking, anemia, unprotected sun exposure, age, and metabolism. Expect your brows to last for years to come. You should think about scheduling a brow refresher appointment once your brows have faded significantly.
  • Are there removal services?
Yes. There are removal service options (i.e., saline solution or laser). At this time, I do not provide micropigmentation removal services but can help direct you to someone that is able to.

  • What does the healing process look like?
Healing time looks different for everyone. This is an average of what to expect and what you may experience. This is normal, trust the healing process. Days 1-5 Brows may appear bold & warm-toned. The pigment is oxidizing & the blood at the surface of your skin mixes with the pigment color. The pigment will fade and soften when healed. Days 3-7 Brows may start peeling, flaking, scabbing & may feel itchy. Do not touch, scratch, or pick at your brows, it may cause pigment loss. Days 6-10 As eyebrows are flaking, they may appear patchy in areas, this is completely normal. Eyebrows might also look like they are gone in some areas or throughout the whole eyebrow. The pigment is settling into the skin. Days 10-14 You may notice some patchiness, or your eyebrows may appear light in color. The pigment can take 15-30 days to fully settle into the skin.
